Pre-Construction: We wanted to work with the original paint color, and ensured that new hardscapes should match the existing front walk and driveway area.

We sourced local plantings to fit the coastal climate. Plantings included boxwood, palms, crape myrtle, camellia, roses for a cutting garden, strawberry trees, and Japanese maples.

Pre-Construction The client wanted to preserve the two giant oak trees on the property. In some cases, the top six inches of cover were dug and removed by hand to protect their shallow root system.

We kept the giant oaks and several mature palms, and added over 100 lighting fixtures to enhance their natural beauty. It makes the entire property a warm and welcoming place at night.

Pre-Construction The family are bocce ball fans and wanted a court. We identified an ideal area shaded by the giant oaks and easily viewed from the outdoor living and dining area.

The new bocce ball court features a rock base with a Hartru playing surface. The nearby flagstone landings/patios provide custom seating to take in the game.

Pre-Construction The aging, original pavilion offered limited shelter and no outdoor cooking space. This limited its use for entertainment and recreation.

The new space is now a multi-use entertainment area with several distinct gathering spaces, a custom kitchen and a fire table. The pergola provides shade without impeding the view.

Pre-Construction The old retaining wall supporting the pavilion was failing, and took up too much square footage. Our goal was to replace it with one sleek stone wall that allowed for additional area for the entertainment space.

While the original veneer stone used at the retreat was not available we chose a very close match which brought a cohesive aesthetic to the property.

Pre-Construction The roof supports on the north deck took up valuable living space, and the bulky railing obstructed the views. We replaced them with decorative support columns and custom iron railings. The deck was switched to a complimentary composite decking material.

Five intimate seating areas now surround the main home for private contemplation or one-on-one morning coffees.
